Accessibility statement
Everyone should be able to find out who we are and how to reach us, whatever device, browser or assistive technology they use.

Our aim
This statement applies to www.pearmedia.co.uk, the website of Pear Media Ltd. We want it to be usable by as many people as possible, including people who rely on a keyboard, a screen reader or other assistive technology.
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, version 2.2, at level AA. These internationally recognised guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to disabled people, and more usable for everyone.
What we have done
- Clear structure. Pages are built with semantic HTML: headings in a logical order, labelled regions and real lists, so assistive technology can announce the structure and you can move around it quickly.
- Keyboard navigation. Links, buttons and form fields can be reached and used with a keyboard alone. On smaller screens, the menu keeps keyboard focus inside it while it is open, and the Escape key closes it.
- Visible focus. A clear outline shows which element has keyboard focus.
- A skip link. The first link on every page takes you past the navigation, straight to the main content.
- Colour contrast. Text and interface colours are chosen to meet the contrast ratios that WCAG 2.2 sets at level AA.
- Reduced motion. If your device is set to reduce motion, smooth scrolling and entrance animations are switched off, and the home page slideshow does not play by itself.
- Text alternatives. Images that carry meaning have text descriptions, and purely decorative images are hidden from screen readers. Links that open in a new tab say so.
- A pause control. The slideshow on the home page has a button to pause it and start it again.
- No sound. Nothing on the website plays sound automatically.
Known limitations
- The enquiry form. The form on our contact page does not send your message itself. It opens the email app on your device with the message ready to send, so it needs an email app to be set up. If that does not suit you, email or call us directly using the details below.
- Linked websites. This website links to the websites of the companies in the Pear Media family and to other organisations. Those websites are not covered by this statement.
If you come across a barrier we have not listed, please tell us.
Compatibility
This website is built with standard, semantic HTML and CSS, so it should work in any current browser and with the assistive technology you already use. Every page can still be read with JavaScript switched off.
